Mark Scott III returns to The Elephant Room on Wednesday, August 26, playing with his trio. He's an Austin-based guitarist, composer, and educator who works regularly both as a leader and as a sideman, and he's performed at many notable venues and festivals across Texas. He also teaches as a professor at Tarleton State University.
For those who haven't spent much time there, The Elephant Room is on Congress Avenue in old Downtown Austin. It's a candlelit basement with walls framed in famous autographs, and it's been filled with Chicago, Kansas City, and New York-style jazz since 1991. The room is open seven nights a week and has picked up several Best of Austin Awards over the years: Critics Picks for Best Way to End a Night on the Town in 2006, Readers Poll Best Bar To Drink Alone and Best Club Not On 6th Street in 1993, and Readers Poll Sanest Place To Take Mom Clubbing in 2000.
