First solo show of glass artist Malina Cipleu at Ghost Pepper Gallery, featuring kiln-formed glass works that explore natural rhythms and patterns.
Malina Cipleu is taking over Ghost Pepper Gallery this summer with Open Thresholds, her first solo show at the space. The exhibition runs from July 28 through September 19, with an opening reception on Saturday, August 1, from 5 to 8 PM.
Cipleu works primarily in kiln-formed glass, layering powders and playing with translucency and modular compositions. She shifts between lower and higher firing temperatures to produce surfaces that change depending on the light and where you're standing. Rather than depicting nature directly, the work draws from rhythms and patterns found across natural systems — growth, adaptation, accumulation, erosion, and exchange — treating nature as a form of intelligence rather than subject matter.
The show starts from the idea that our perception is limited to what we can sense directly, while much of what we experience exists just beyond that edge: the threshold where what's seen softens and what's sensed, remembered, or imagined takes shape. The resulting forms are left intentionally open, leaving you to complete the image through your own attention and experience.
