Special IMAX screening of the action epic Mad Max: Fury Road at the Bullock Museum IMAX Theatre, part of the Paramount Summer Classic Film Series.
Mad Max: Fury Road is coming to the Bullock IMAX Theater on Tuesday, July 21, as part of the Paramount Summer Classic Film Series. It's George Miller's 2015 action epic, 120 minutes long, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. If you've only seen it on a TV or a standard screen, this is the version it was built for.
The theater is inside The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum at 1800 Congress Ave, and it's Austin's only IMAX cinema. It's a 400-seat, fully accessible room with a projector that handles both 2-D and 3-D, and it can even run special films on a movie-quality 35mm projector. The IMAX lobby is its own separate space, with a carpet pattern that takes in native Texas flora, and the cinema has its own separate entrance, so it can open independently of the museum. On weekends, it stays open with extended hours.

As for the movie, Fury Road has been billed as the best action movie of the decade—a spectacle-driven epic that critics call an earth-shattering return to the spirit of the gigantic movie. It's a high-octane chase across a wasteland, and seeing it on a screen this size is how it was meant to be experienced. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the film starts at 7:30 PM.
