Lurleen Ladd celebrates her album Reclamation with a live performance reimagining '80s songs, with special guests, as part of the Fall Sonic Social series.
Lurleen Ladd takes the stage at Assembly Hall on Saturday, October 10, to celebrate the release of her new album, Reclamation. The night is billed as a live reimagining of '80s songs, and she'll be joined by special guests. It's the first time the record is being played out in the city, and the set centers on those reimagined covers.
Reclamation is a title Ladd takes seriously. She describes the record as a way of reclaiming her voice, her dreams, and the space she was taught not to take up. That framing carries over into the live show, where she's taking songs from the '80s and working them over in her own way rather than playing them straight. The guests she's bringing along will be part of that, too.
The evening is more than just the performance. It's part of the Fall Sonic Social, a three-event autumn series put on by Austin Woman + Wavemakers Women & Music, an organization that brings women together through music, wellness, creativity, and community. The night is set up as a celebration with local vendors and drinks, and it's run as a no-alcohol, self-service event.
