Screening of the director's cut of the 1986 comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Frank Oz, restoring his original ending.
Stateside at the Paramount is screening the director's cut of Little Shop of Horrors on Wednesday, October 21. The 1986 comedy musical follows Seymour, a shy young man who discovers a man-eating plant from outer space. The plant helps him become a celebrity, get rid of his boss, and woo the girl of his dreams, until its cannibalistic habits become insatiable.
The songs are by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, the duo who later wrote The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. The film also features cameos from comedy icons Steve Martin, Bill Murray, John Candy, Christopher Guest, and Jim Belushi, with Frank Oz directing. This particular screening is the director's cut, which restores Oz's original ending—the same one that carried the show to success as a smash off-Broadway stage version.
