Free outdoor concert by LeTrainiump as part of the Music on the Trail series at the Rainey Street Trailhead.
LeTrainiump plays the Rainey Street Trailhead on Wednesday, September 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. It's a free show on the lawn at 36 East Avenue, right on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail.
LeTrainiump comes from Mamou, Louisiana, which calls itself the Zydeco Capital of the World. He works as a Pop/R&B artist, and you can hear that in the way he puts things together: modern vocals that bring to mind Luther Vandross and Michael Jackson, nostalgic synths, guitar riffs in the vein of Nile Rodgers, and deep funk rhythms. It all sits inside a late-90s and early-2000s aesthetic, so if you grew up on that era of R&B and funk, it'll sound familiar. He describes his live shows as high-energy, inclusive, and cathartic—a reputation that's taken him from small clubs and regional festivals to a halftime show for the New Orleans Pelicans.
The performance is part of Music on the Trail, a free series from The Trail Conservancy that turns the Rainey Street Trailhead lawn into an outdoor concert spot with a new local musician each week. The series is part of the Conservancy's Arts + Culture Plan for the Butler Trail, and it debuted in October 2020, with its first month dedicated to Black musicians in Austin. Since then, it's continued to spotlight local artists selected by a committee of arts and entertainment influencers.
