BookPeople presents author Lawrence Wright for a book signing and conversation about his nonfiction book Redemption, moderated by Pamela Colloff.
Lawrence Wright is coming to BookPeople on Wednesday, October 21, to talk about his new book, Redemption: Faith, Justice, and Sisterhood on Death Row. It's a nonfiction account of the bond between the Sisters of Mary Morning Star, a group of contemplative nuns in Waco, and seven women on death row at the Gatesville women's prison. The story starts with Deacon Ronnie Lastovica, who began giving communion to the inmates and called on the nuns to visit them.
Wright is a staff writer for The New Yorker and has written eleven nonfiction books, including The Looming Tower, Going Clear, and God Save Texas, as well as four novels. The Looming Tower won a Pulitzer Prize. He and his wife have lived in Austin for a long time, so this is a local author talking about a story set right here in Texas. Moderating the conversation is Pamela Colloff, a reporter at ProPublica and a staff writer at The New York Times Magazine who has won a National Magazine Award.
