Concert by the rock band L.A. WITCH at the Mohawk venue in Austin.
L.A. WITCH plays Mohawk Austin on Saturday, November 14, with King Buffalo opening. It's a double bill that puts two psych-leaning acts on the same stage, and both are coming from the touring circuit rather than the local scene.
L.A. WITCH is the project of singer and guitarist Steve L. Smith, who handles the songwriting and the bulk of the recording himself. His sound is built around a heavy, fuzzed-out guitar and a steady, driving beat, and he's spent the last few years playing out that approach live. King Buffalo brings a different kind of psych to the night, leaning more toward the melodic and the expansive, so the two should sit well together without overlapping too much.

Mohawk is on Red River, right in the middle of the city's music district, so it's an easy spot to get to if you're already downtown. The show starts at 7 PM, and since it's a Saturday night, you'll have plenty of time to wander around the neighborhood before and after. If you've been following either act, this is a good chance to catch them both on the same bill.
