Live music session with Austin music icon Kevin McKinney at C-Boy's Heart & Soul.
Kevin McKinney plays C-Boy's Heart & Soul on Tuesday, August 18, and he's back again the following Tuesday, August 25. Both shows start at 6:30 PM.
If you've been around the Austin scene for a while, the name is probably familiar. McKinney is a local music icon and the longtime frontman of Soulhat, where his rootsy rock and soulful songwriting helped carve out his place in the city's music history. This is a solo billing, so it's McKinney taking the stage on his own.
The venue is C-Boy's Heart & Soul, 2008 South Congress Avenue, in the heart of SoCo. It's owned by Continental Club owner Steve Wertheimer, who dedicated the place to C-Boy Parks, who ran the now-defunct Rome Inn. It opened on New Year's Eve 2013, and the room upstairs recedes from the downstairs in a space modeled after its sister venue just down the street. The back patio still plays host to Dale Watson's Chicken Shit Bingo on Sundays.
