Book signing and author talk with Juniper Klein for her debut novel Where the Bones Took Root, in conversation with Dana Swift, Andy C. Naranjo and Erin Cotter.
Juniper Klein will be at BookPeople on Friday, October 16, talking about her debut novel, Where the Bones Took Root. The session starts at 6 PM on the second floor of the bookstore at 603 North Lamar Boulevard, and it's free and open to the public.
Klein is an engineer turned author living in Houston, and her writing leans into sharp-edged banter, lyrical prose, and magic that demands a sacrifice. Where the Bones Took Root follows Jayde, who turns to necromancy to bring back Soleste, the girl she loved, and ends up entangled with a stranger named Barrick and a local alchemy cult. It's a story about grief and the lengths someone will go to get back what they've lost, set in a world where magic comes with a cost.
For the event, Klein won't be on her own. She'll be in conversation with Dana Swift, Andy C. Naranjo, and Erin Cotter, so it'll be a group discussion rather than a solo reading. The session runs about 45 to 60 minutes, and there's a signing line afterward if you want to meet her. A few things to keep in mind before you head over: seating is first-come, first-served and not guaranteed, so if you want a chair, it's worth getting there a bit early. There's no livestream or recording, so you'll have to be there in person to catch it.
