Author Juliet Izon holds a Q&A with Andrew Forrester about her debut novel The Encore, including a book talk and signing.
Juliet Izon will be at First Light Books on Wednesday, September 30, for a conversation about her debut novel, The Encore. She'll be joined by Andrew Forrester of How the Story Goes, and the evening includes a book talk and a signing of the novel.
The Encore is a years-spanning story about talented musicians chasing each other and their dreams with uncontrollable ambition. The talk with Forrester focuses on those themes of ambition and reinvention, so it's a good chance to hear her talk through the ideas that run through the book. Izon comes to this from a different kind of writing: her work as a compiler of celebrity homes, profiles, and kitchen tips has appeared in Architectural Digest, The New York Times, and Gotham. This is her first novel.
First Light Books is an independent bookstore and all-day cafe in Hyde Park that doubles as a community hub. They pair a curated collection of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and cookbooks with a morning coffee window and a steady round of book clubs, author events, storytime sessions, a chess club, and trivia nights. It's the kind of place that works as well for a quiet morning coffee as it does for an evening like this.
