Stand-up comedy night with Jordan Matthew Young and Phil Hollie at The White Horse.
Jordan Matthew Young and Phil Hollie are taking over The White Horse on Monday, August 31, for a full night of stand-up comedy. The doors open at 7:30 PM, and the comedy runs late into the night, with the venue staying open until 1 AM.
It's a double bill, and the two sets are spaced out rather than back-to-back. Jordan Matthew Young takes the stage first, from 8 PM to 9:45 PM. After a break, Phil Hollie follows from 10:30 PM to 12:15 AM. If you're coming for just one of them, you've got a good window to catch your favorite and still have time for a drink in between. If you stay for both, you're looking at over four hours of comedy across the evening.
The White Horse is on Comal Street in East Austin. It opened in December 2011 as part of Nathan Hill and Denis O'Donnell's honky-tonk, the Eastside, and it drew on the co-owners' days managing the Hole in the Wall to help establish modern outlaw country acts like Mike & the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau. Sundays there belong to local institution Conjunto Los Pinkys. The venue's low-set stage and often-packed, multi-generational dancing crowd reflect Austin's age-old ethos, and that same room is where Young and Hollie will be performing on Monday night.
