Concert by bassist Jon Blondell and his regular band at the Elephant Room venue in Austin.
Jon Blondell is back on the bass at the Elephant Room on Monday, September 14, playing with a rotating cast of friends. If you've spent any time in the room, you know the deal: you never quite know what to expect when he's on the strings, but you know it's going to be good. He's returning to reclaim his throne on stage in the basement, and the set is billed as Jon Blondell & Friends.
For those who haven't caught him there before, the "Friends" part of the title is where the night gets its shape. Blondell takes the bass, and the rest of the lineup fills in around him, which means the music can shift from one song to the next. It's the kind of show where the setlist isn't a fixed thing, and the energy depends on who happens to be on stage with him.
If you can't make it on the 14th, there's a second chance. He's playing the same bill again the following Monday, September 21, also at 6 PM. Two Mondays in a row, same room, same bass-led format. If you're a regular, you know the Elephant Room is the kind of place where you can just show up and let the night take care of itself.
