Jess Williamson performs and signs records in-store at Waterloo Records to celebrate her album 'Mile South of Heaven'.
Jess Williamson is playing an in-store performance and record signing at Waterloo Records on Friday, October 9, starting at 5:30 PM. The appearance celebrates her seventh studio album, Mile South of Heaven, produced by Shooter Jennings and released through New West Records.
Williamson is a Texas-born, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She's built a voice that's hard to mistake — crystalline, acrobatic, and entirely her own — and she works at the intersection of indie folk, alt-country, and a deeply personal confessional tradition. This is her seventh album, so there's a fair amount of ground behind her.
Waterloo Records is Austin's reigning record emporium, and it's in a different spot than it used to be. In August 2025, it moved to a bigger space in Old West Austin, where it added a bar and a podcast studio. The store hosts in-store performances by touring acts and locals to mark new album releases, with no preference in musical genre. It was named Readers Poll Best Record Store every year from 2001 through 2022.
