Jenny Reynolds album release show with special guest Holly Frost at The 04 Center.
Jenny Reynolds is bringing her album release show to The 04 Center on Wednesday, September 9, with Holly Frost opening. The new record is called Willow & Stone, and it's her fifth. It follows 2020's Any Kind of Angel, which featured Jaimee Harris, BettySoo, Warren Hood, Oliver Steck, and Scrappy Jud Newcomb.
Reynolds is a New England native who's been working in Austin for a long time. She's played the Old Settlers, Kerrville, and Philadelphia Folk Festivals, and has appeared at Club Passim, the Cactus Cafe, and the Bluebird Cafe. She's worked with Grammy winner Ruthie Foster and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, and was an Official Showcase Artist at SXSW in 2008 and 2018. The Austin Chronicle named her Best New Local Act in its 2005 Critics Poll. Her music has appeared on major network television and independent film, including ABC's All My Children. She describes her approach as 'Work hard, be nice, keep moving.'
Opening the night is Holly Frost, a California native who found her footing in Austin's scene in 2009. Her sound draws on mid-century bandstand elegance, Tin Pan Alley wit, and old cabaret, and she plays a cherry-red hollow-body guitar. People have compared her to Doris Day or Blossom Dearie.
