Concert by Jason Scott & The High Heat at the Austin City Limits festival, featuring Americana soul and heartland rock.
Jason Scott & The High Heat play the BMI Stage at Zilker Park on Sunday, October 11, as part of Austin City Limits Weekend 2. It's a short setā6:00 PM to 6:30 PMāso you'll want to be there early if you're planning to catch them.
The band comes from Oklahoma City, where songwriter Jason Scott blends Americana soul, heartland rock, and country grit. There's a specific story behind the lyrics: Scott grew up Pentecostal and spent years as a preacher-in-training before a crisis of faith eventually led him away from the pulpit. That background gives his writing a storyteller's edge, and the band describes their sound as gritty, groove-laden rock that examines the absurdity of American life.
They've been building a name for themselves over a couple of records. Their debut, Castle Rock, was produced by Scott and Taylor Johnson at Lunar Manor and Blackwatch Studios in Oklahoma City and drew praise from NPR, The Boot, and BBC Radio. Their 2025 follow-up, American Grin, earned a shout-out from Rolling Stone, which called it an honest and often humorous look at life in the U.S.
