Janeane Garofalo

Janeane Garofalo is playing a stand-up set at Paramount and Stateside Theatres on Friday, October 23. If you've spent any time with 90s comedy or indie film, her name is probably already familiar. She's been a constant in American comedy since she burst onto the scene in 1992, and this is a chance to catch her live in Austin.

Most people know her from the screen. She landed a string of critically acclaimed roles in The Truth About Cats and Dogs, Wet Hot American Summer, Ratatouille, Reality Bites, Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, Mystery Men, The Ten, and The Cable Guy. She also co-authored the bestseller Feel This Book with Ben Stiller. On television, she was a cast member of the Emmy Award-winning The Ben Stiller Show and played Paula, the acerbic talent booker, on The Larry Sanders Show—a role that earned her an Emmy nomination—before joining Saturday Night Live in the fall of 1994.

Her TV work didn't stop there: two HBO specials, FOX's 24, Mad About You, and the final season of NBC's The West Wing, where she played Democratic campaign strategist Louise Thornton. But beyond acting, she's an outspoken activist, a spoken-word performer, and a stand-up comedian. She also helped launch the first liberal radio network, Air America Radio, where she hosted The Majority Report.

This is a stand-up show, so the focus is on her as a comedian rather than an actor. Doors open at 6 PM at Paramount and Stateside Theatres on Friday, October 23.
