A free, low-pressure introduction to improv comedy taught by Kristen Drenning at Fallout Theater, open to all skill levels.
Fallout Theater is running a free intro to improv class every Monday evening, starting September 7 and running through January 18. It's held at their space at 616 Lavaca Street, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
Fallout pitches this as a sample class for anyone curious about improv comedy but not yet ready to commit to a full eight-week course. It's a low-pressure way to see how it works without signing up for a whole term, and it's open to everyone—whether you're actually looking to get into comedy or you just want to hang out and meet people in a supportive group. If you've ever wondered what improv is all about but felt a bit intimidated by the idea of jumping straight into a full class, this is the low-stakes way to dip your toe in.
Kristen Drenning is the one teaching it, and the theater describes her as one of their favorite and most experienced improv instructors. That's a good thing to know going in, because the whole point of a class like this is to feel comfortable enough to actually try things out. Since it's an introductory session, you don't need any prior experience to show up.

One of the best parts is what happens after the class. If you stay, you can catch the 8 PM show, Fuck This Week, free of charge. So you can spend an hour learning the basics and then stick around to see a live show on the same stage. The class is free, the show is free, and it runs every Monday from September 7 through January 18, 6:30 to 7:30 PM at Fallout Theater, 616 Lavaca Street.
