Intro to Improv Class

Fallout Theater is running a free intro to improv class every Monday evening this fall, starting August 10 and running through December 21. It's a one-hour session from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at their space on 616 Lavaca Street in downtown Austin. The class is taught by Kristen Drenning, one of the theater's most experienced improv teachers.

Fallout bills this as a sample session for anyone curious about improv comedy who isn't quite ready to commit to a full eight-week course. They describe it as a fun, friendly, low-pressure introduction open to everyone: creative types thinking about a career in comedy and people who just want to have some fun and meet others in a supportive group environment. One of the best parts is what happens after the class. If you're still hanging around, you can stay for the 8 PM show, Fuck This Week, free of charge. So you get an hour of learning the ropes and then a full show to see it in action, all in the same building. Between the class and the show, you've got a whole Monday evening of comedy sorted.
