Two-person exhibition featuring new works by Texas-based artists Sydney Yeager and Caprice Pierucci, exploring movement and form through painting and sculpture.
Laura Rathe Fine Art opens Interwoven on Thursday, September 10, a two-person show featuring new work by Texas artists Sydney Yeager and Caprice Pierucci. The exhibition runs from September 10 through October 5, with an opening reception that same Thursday from 6 to 9 PM. Admission is free.
Yeager and Pierucci come from different mediums, but they share an intuitive approach to movement and form. Yeager paints with her signature wet-into-wet alla prima technique on raw or lightly washed linen, working spontaneously to capture fleeting moments of movement. Pierucci creates sculptural wall works that turn wood into rhythmic, organic compositions inspired by the natural world. Her practice draws on patterns found in erosion, geological formations, and reclaimed materials, and it's influenced by her mother's pioneering fiber art practice.
Though they work in different materials, their practices intersect through a shared sensitivity to process. The show stages a quiet dialogue between painting and sculpture, spontaneity and structure, and permanence and transformation. It's a pairing that lets you see how two different ways of working can land in a similar place.
