Telescreens and Magic Rockers of Texas live at 29th Street Ballroom, presented by Howdy Gals.
Telescreens are coming to 29th Street Ballroom on Tuesday, September 29, with Magic Rockers of Texas opening. The show is presented by Howdy Gals.
Telescreens are making the trip from New York, so this is a date that pulls in a band from out of town. They'll be sharing the bill with Magic Rockers of Texas, who are local to Austin. If you've been around the city's scene for a while, the name behind the opening act might ring a bell: Magic Rockers of Texas is the latest project from Jim Campo, who you also know from Berkshire Hounds.
Campo didn't put this one together alone. He's rounded out the band with a few other familiar faces from around town: Will Grover, who plays in Billy Glitter, is on guitar; Chris Kues, from The Rotten Mangoes, is on bass; and McGarrity Stanley, of Booty Patrol, is on drums. It's a lineup that draws from several different corners of the local circuit, so if you've followed any of those other bands, you'll recognize the names on stage.
