Benefit show with Austin musicians supporting Casa Marianella, a shelter for people fleeing persecution.
Home Is Here returns to Central Machine Works on Saturday, October 24, with a lineup of Austin musicians playing for Casa Marianella. The night is supported by KUTX.
This year's bill brings together David Garza, Gina Chavez, Bruce Robison, Real Bossa, and Tekle Mezghebe. It's an annual gathering, so the format is familiar: a handful of local artists sharing one stage for a single cause. If you've been around the Austin scene for a while, you'll recognize most of these names from different corners of the city's music community.
The music is for Casa Marianella, a local shelter for men, women, and children fleeing terror, torture, and political persecution in their home countries. It started in 1986 as a single house and has since grown into a network of shelters that provide safe refuge, legal support, medical assistance, and educational opportunities. The people coming through their doors arrive from all over—Venezuela, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Cuba, and Russia are among the countries they've served. The shelter's work is the reason the show happens every year.

It's a straightforward night: five Austin acts on one bill, with the proceeds going to the shelter. The show starts at 7 PM at Central Machine Works.
