A day of holistic wellness with mental health education, music, movement, books and family activities at Star Hill Ranch.
HealthFest is coming to Star Hill Ranch on Saturday, October 3, from 2 PM to 7 PM. It's the first event from the Engage & Heal Foundation, a nonprofit that grew out of a 2018 tragedy: Erik Hanson, a Lake Travis High School graduate, honors student, varsity football player, and Texas A&M cadet, lost his struggle with mental health. Amelia Floyd, whose daughter was Erik's best friend, started the foundation to share resources and raise awareness. The mission is to break the stigma around mental health, educate and engage the community, and let healing begin in central Texas.
They're drawing on some heavy numbers to ground the work: NAMI reports that one in five U.S. adults experience mental illness each year, and half of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14. That's the context the foundation is working from, and the day is built around the idea that it's okay not to be okay.
For the afternoon, they're turning Star Hill Ranch—a curated old Texas town with its own chapel, storefronts, and a Main Street—into a walkable 'Wellness Town Experience.' You'll find mental health education and practical resources spread across the grounds, alongside music, movement, books, and family activities. It's designed as a day you can drift through at your own pace rather than a set schedule.
