Forsyth has been a part of the city's music scene for a long time. He helped found The Asylum Street Spankers, the theatrical acoustic group that went on to international acclaim, and has performed as a solo artist and in a duo with Oliver Steck of Bob Schneider's band. In 2005, he took home an Austin Music Award for Best Male Vocalist. Over the years, he's shared the stage with BB King, Ray Charles, Lucinda Williams, Jimmy Vaughn, and Dr. John, and has played festivals like Austin City Limits, High Sierra, and Los Alamos.
