He's a New York-based bassist, and for this date he's bringing along guitarist Mario Wellman and drummer Daniel Dufour. It's a straightforward trio setup—bass, guitar, and drums—and they'll be playing two sets over the course of the evening.
If you haven't spent much time there, the Elephant Room is a basement spot in the historic Swift Building at 315 Congress Ave, right in the heart of old Downtown. It's been a jazz room since 1991, with Chicago, Kansas City, and New York styles rotating through. The walls are lined with autographs, and it's earned a few nods over the years: a Senate Bill Resolution named it one of the top ten jazz venues in the country, and Down Beat Magazine put it among the top 100 in the world. It opens seven nights a week, with happy hour music starting at 6 PM, and the regular bill includes names like Sarah Sharp, Stanley Smith, Jon Blondell, and Michael Mordecai.
