Greetings from...Anywhere, USA

ScriptHOPE is hosting a postcard workshop called Greetings from...Anywhere, USA at the Austin Public Library Cepeda Branch on Saturday, August 15. The whole point is to make your own postcards for your travels, and they've got the supplies ready: custom designs, templates, and stickers to work with, plus stamps to send them anywhere in the US.

It's not just about the crafting, either. The session looks at vintage postcards and postal designs, postcard etiquette, and mailboxes from around the world. They're also handing out Oculus VR glasses to virtually transport you to different places across the globe while you work. Snacks are provided, too.

It's a free session open to all ages, so it works as a family outing or something to do on your own. The venue is the Cepeda Branch in East Austin, which opened on June 20, 1998, though its neighborhood history goes back further: it started in 1975 as the Rosewood-Zaragoza Branch inside the Rosewood-Zaragoza Recreation Center on Webberville Road, moved to a shopping center on E. 7th Street in 1978 and was renamed Govalle, and later spent a decade at a leased site on E. César Chávez.

Greetings from...Anywhere, USA runs from 2 PM to 3 PM on Saturday, August 15, at the Austin Public Library Cepeda Branch, 651 N. Pleasant Valley Rd. It's free and open to all ages.
