Concert by singer-songwriter Grace Pettis as part of The Texpats at K & D House Concerts.
Grace Pettis plays K & D House Concerts on Thursday, October 1, at 6 PM. It's a house concert, so you'll be in a living room rather than a club, and the set is part of her work with The Texpats.
If you're not familiar with her, Pettis is a singer-songwriter from the South Austin scene, signed to the indie label MPress Records, which also puts out artists like Rachael Sage, Seth Glier and A Fragile Tomorrow. She's won several of the country's most prestigious songwriting contests, including NPR's Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, and has received grants from the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation. Other artists, including Sara Hickman and Ruthie Foster, have recorded her songs, and she signed a publishing deal with BMG in 2019. She's represented by Chas Management.
This show is part of her work with The Texpats, a trio of Texas-bred singer-songwriters that also includes Natalie Price of Fort Worth and Rachel Laven of San Antonio. The three of them perform each other's songs alongside handpicked covers, so you'll hear a mix of their own writing and the songs they've chosen from elsewhere. It's a collaborative way of playing, with each of them stepping into the others' material.
