Heavy blues trio GA-20 performs with blues harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite at The State Theatre in Austin.
GA-20 play The State Theatre on Wednesday, November 11, with harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite joining them on stage. The trio hails from Boston, and they've been at the forefront of a blues revival since 2018. They're signed to New West Records, and that run has put three number ones on the Billboard Blues chart and four Boston Music Awards for Best Blues Act in their pocket.
The show comes on the heels of their latest album, Blues Now, which dropped July 31, 2026. Matthew Stubbs produced it, and they recorded it at Rare Signals in Cambridge, MA. MOJO called the record an "intergenerational blues summit" between the trio and Musselwhite, a Grammy winner whose name is pretty much synonymous with the genre. The tour also brought out a video for "Cristo Redentor," which Stubbs calls Musselwhite's signature song and a "modern blues classic," and a television debut on CBS Saturday Morning.
GA-20 is a heavy blues trio made up of Matt Stubbs, Cody Nilsen, and Josh Kiggans. They've built their name on that heavy, stripped-down sound, and having Musselwhite on the bill adds a whole other layer to the night. The State Theatre, along with The Paramount, is one of the artistic heartbeats of downtown Austin, hosting more than 550 events every year.
