An immersive evening of original piano music by Alex Syedin, with projected imagery transforming the room around the piano.
Alex Syedin brings Four Seasons to the Steinway Piano Gallery on Saturday, October 10, for an evening of original piano music. The show is organized by the Ukrainian community of Austin, and it's built around a single piano in a room that holds around 80 people.
Four Seasons takes the classical cycle and reimagines it through sixteen original pieces. The music moves through winter, spring, rain, summer, fall, and back to winter, and the room changes along with it: projected imagery transforms the walls around the piano, so rain reaches the audience's seat and autumn is painted beat by beat. It's an immersive setup, with the visuals following the music as the seasons turn.
The evening starts with a reception before the main performance. During that first hour, guest performer Dr. Madeline Anderson plays live piano while people mingle and take photos. The performance itself follows, with Syedin at the piano and the projections shifting across the room.
