Concert by the Austin Western swing and boogie-woogie ensemble Floyd Domino's All Stars at Sam's Town Point.
Floyd Domino's All Stars play Sam's Town Point on Tuesday, July 21, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The group is an Austin ensemble led by pianist Floyd Domino, one of the most celebrated Western swing and boogie-woogie pianists in Texas. The All Stars bring together a rotating cast of veteran Austin musicians to play classic Western swing, jazz, blues, boogie-woogie and dancehall favorites, and they've built a following among Central Texas dancers and traditional music fans.
Domino first rose to national prominence as the pianist for Asleep at the Wheel, joining the band as a teenager. Since then, he's performed with Willie Nelson, George Strait, Merle Haggard and the Texas Playboys. He's a Grammy winner and a member of the Texas Music Legends Hall of Fame, recognized for his stride piano, jazz improvisation and authentic Texas swing. The All Stars are his way of keeping those sounds alive in a live setting, with the set pulling from Western swing, jazz, blues, boogie-woogie and the dancehall standards that have long been part of the region's music.
