Fit for a King

Fit For A King play the Germania Insurance Amphitheater on Sunday, July 26, starting at 6:30 PM. It's a homecoming of sorts: they're a metalcore band from Tyler, Texas, which puts them right in our neck of the woods.

They've been at this a long time. The group first came together in 2007 as a sextet with drummer Jared Easterling, and they put out a self-titled EP the following year. A second EP, Awaken the Vesper, came in 2009, and their 2011 self-released album Descendants eventually landed them a deal with Solid State Records, an imprint of Tooth & Nail. Their label debut, Creation/Destruction, arrived in 2013 and charted on both the Billboard Top 200 and the Christian Albums charts. The three albums that followed—2014's Slave to Nothing, 2016's Deathgrip, and 2018's Dark Skies—all hit the top three of the Billboard Christian Albums chart.

In May 2020, they announced a collaboration with We Came as Romans, with Dave Stephens appearing on a new version of their track "Backbreaker." They're known for high-energy live shows built around chugging riffs, clean and unclean vocals, and ferocious mosh pits. Over the years, they've toured with Ice Nine Kills, Light the Torch, Emmure, After the Burial, and Awake at Last, and they've played the Warped Tour and the Uprise Festival.
