A community gathering celebrating the Field Guide to Austin Summer Reading Bingo Challenge with prizes, raffles, and book discussions.
Central Machine Works is hosting a party for the Field Guide to Austin Summer Reading Bingo on Thursday, August 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. It's a celebration of the summer reading challenge KUT put together for Austinites, and it's open to anyone who took part—whether you managed one bingo, two, or went for the full blackout. The whole point is to get together and talk about the books you actually finished and what you're planning to read next.
If you've been following the challenge, this is the second gathering of the summer. Earlier in the season, the community met up for a Field Guide to Austin Book Swap at St. Elmo Brewing's Springdale location, so this party serves as a sort of closing ceremony for the reading season. It's a chance to see who else was reading the same titles and to trade recommendations with people who spent their summer doing the same thing you did.

When you arrive, you'll check in at the KUT table to pick up prizes, which include Field Guide stickers, bookmarks, and Lick ice cream vouchers, all while supplies last. If you hit blackout status—meaning you filled the entire board—you're entered into a raffle for a swag basket, a pair of tickets to the ATXplained Live show on October 15, or a KUTX Concert Club membership. The party is at Central Machine Works, 4824 E. Cesar Chavez St., and they're asking for an RSVP. It runs from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, August 27.
