Fatal Fear Haunted House returns for a spooky October night with immersive scares, intense strobe lighting and fog in a suburban home setting.
Fatal Fear Haunted House is back in Austin on Friday, October 16, at 15701 La Hacienda Dr., after a brief hiatus. It's a family-run haunt that started in 2018 as a "pro-level" home haunt in Steiner Ranch, the passion project of Brian and Liana Robinson. Over the years, it grew from a backyard setup into a full-scale commercial attraction, and it's still run by the Robinson family, staged in their suburban home and backyard.
They've built a reputation for original immersive shows rather than just generic jump scares. In 2019, they put on A Fairy Tale's Revenge; 2021 brought Mortis Manor; and 2023 saw Back to the Slashers, a 1985-slasher-themed production. Along the way, they've raised funds for local nonprofits and performing-arts venues. After outgrowing Steiner Ranch, the haunt went commercial in 2025 with an entire acre of scares. It closed at the last minute, but it's now back nearby, with the Robinsons promising to keep the intimate, handcrafted feel that made it a neighborhood legend.
If you're planning to go, there are a few things to keep in mind. It's recommended for ages 12 and up, and parental discretion is advised. The experience uses intense strobe lighting and fog, so if you're sensitive to either, you'll want to be aware before you step inside. It's the kind of haunt that leans into the atmosphere as much as the scares, and that handcrafted touch is a big part of why it's a local favorite.
