Eve Monsees plays The Continental Club on Monday, August 31, with Mike Buck, Tjarko Jeen and Brad Fordham. It's a Texas blues and rock n roll bill, and Monsees is the main feature of the night.
Monsees has been around the Austin scene since she was a teenager, when she started playing guitar at 12 and performing alongside schoolmate Gary Clark Jr. She formed Eve and the Exiles with drummer Mike Buck, and the band put out their debut record in 2004. The two have played together since 2002 and are co-owners of Antone's Record Shop here in town. In 2007 she joined the Bluebonnets, and she appears on their 2010 release Boom Boom Boom Boom.
Buck is a fixture of the Texas roots scene and has been since the mid-1970s. He was a founding member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and later played with the LeRoi Brothers and Big Guitars From Texas. The duo is often accompanied by Amsterdam-born guitarist Tjarko Jeen, who'll be on stage with them for this one. Brad Fordham rounds out the lineup.
