Saxophonist Eric Demmer from Houston headlines the Erniedurawa Tuesdays jazz session at De Nada Cantina.
Eric Demmer headlines De Nada Cantina on Tuesday, July 21, as part of the Durawa Tuesdays series. Demmer is a saxophonist coming in from Houston to take the lead on the night, and he'll be playing with Durawa, the group led by Texas legend Ernie Durawa.
If you're not familiar with the setup, Durawa Tuesdays is Ernie Durawa's regular jazz night at De Nada Cantina on South First. He hosts it as a recurring series, and this particular Tuesday, Demmer is the one headlining. It's a live jazz session, so the music is the main event, and having a Houston saxophonist step into the spotlight gives this one a bit of a cross-Texas feel.
One of the things that makes this a good Tuesday night out is how the venue handles it. De Nada Cantina serves Mexican cuisine and margaritas in the showroom, so you can eat and drink while you listen. The night is open to all ages, which means it's as easy to bring the kids along as it is to come on your own or with friends. Between the food, the drinks, and the live jazz, it's a full evening rather than just a quick set.
