Country music concert by Emily Herring, blending Western swing, gypsy jazz and honky tonk influences.
Emily Herring plays Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden on Saturday, October 10, starting at 7 PM. It's a headlining set, and she's bringing her full band with her.
Herring is a San Marcos native who plays country music built on Western swing, gypsy jazz, and traditional honky tonk, with soaring vocals and a distinctive twang. Her hard-hitting, no-frills crooning earned her a 2015 Ameripolitan Award nomination for the record Your Mistake, which also won the Carl T. Sprague Award from the Texas Music Awards—an honor she shares only with Michael Martin Murphey. Her 2017 album Gliding won international acclaim and led to performances at the Kansas City Folk Festival, ACL's Moody Theater, and Uncle Calvin's.
Her songs, wrought with pedal steel, dobro, and telecaster, recall the last fifty years of country music. On stage, she fronts a band that includes Joel Weinstein, Ryan Randolph, Kevin Hall, and John Chandler.
