Soul-blues guitarist and singer Eddie 9V performs live at Antone's Nightclub, presenting his album 'Down Here'.
Eddie 9V plays Antone's on Thursday, January 28, 2027, at 8 PM. He's touring his latest album, Down Here, which is his first release for Easy Eye Sound.
If you're not familiar with the name, Eddie 9V is the stage name for Eddie, a soul-blues guitarist and singer from Atlanta, Georgia. He's been playing since he was six, and he set out on a blues path after seeing Howlin' Wolf at the 1966 Newport Folk Festival. He's a multi-instrumentalist who wrote, produced, and played every instrument on his 2019 debut, Left My Soul In Memphis, which he followed with Little Black Flies in 2021, Capricorn in 2023 — recorded at Capricorn Studios in Macon — and Saratoga in 2024.
Down Here came out in 2025 and was recorded in Nashville with Dan Auerbach, who brought in session musicians Marcus King, Pat McLaughlin, and Daniel Tashian. The record pulls from soul, blues, country, gospel, and folk, and it includes a cover of "Rock Your Baby," a reimagining of George McRae's 1974 disco-soul hit. That mix of styles is a good summary of where he's been: a blues foundation that stretches into soul and country, with a few turns toward gospel and folk along the way.
