Book signing with Dr. Barak Benaryeh for his book on veterinary insights, featuring a conversation with moderator Juli Berwald.
Dr. Barak Benaryeh is coming to BookPeople on Thursday, October 22, to talk about his new book, The Vet Will See You Now. The evening marks the book's release, and Benaryeh will be in conversation with moderator Juli Berwald on the second floor of the bookstore at 603 North Lamar Boulevard. The discussion runs about 45 to 60 minutes, and a signing line follows.
Benaryeh describes the book as "Kitchen Confidential meets All Creatures Great and Small." The idea is to use stories as a backdrop for current veterinary information, told through irreverent, satirical, and often humorous tales drawn from his own life as a veterinarian and a pet owner. It's less of a textbook and more of a collection of stories that happen to teach you something about how the vet world actually works.
He's not just writing from the sidelines, either. Benaryeh is a practicing Austin veterinarian and a founding partner of Spicewood Springs Animal and Spicewood Springs Cat Hospitals. He graduated from the University of California, Davis, completed further training at the University of Pennsylvania, is board certified in canine and feline practice, and has more than thirty-five years in the profession. If you've ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a clinic, he's one of the people who's actually been there.
