Beginner honky-tonk two-step and Texas swing dance lessons with live music and dancing at Sam's Town Point.
Double or Nothing Two-Step is back at Sam's Town Point this Thursday, July 23, for another round of honky-tonk lessons. The session runs from 6 PM to 7 PM, and the focus is on beginner two-step and Texas swing. If you've never danced a step in your life, this is the place to start.
Double or Nothing runs social two-step lessons at honky-tonks across Austin, and they bill these as "Austin's most popular two-step lessons." They're open to everyone: you can come solo or with friends, and no partner is necessary. The sessions are beginner-friendly and built around growing your dance skills and connecting with other people, though intermediate and advanced levels are also offered each week. It's designed for the long haul, with the lesson followed by live music and dancing, so you can put what you just learned into practice right then and there.
This particular Thursday, the Sentimental Family Band provides the live music. The venue is Sam's Town Point, a South Austin icon that's been hosting live music since 1981 and sports two stages, one inside and one out. It's the kind of spot that's as much about the atmosphere as the music.
