It's a karaoke tribute to Dolly Parton, the country singer, actress, and philanthropist who died at 80 in a city she loved. The Volstead Lounge, the 21-and-up room at Hotel Vegas, hands the stage over to the fans, who are invited to sing Parton's songs themselves. The night is framed as a celebration of her life and work, and it arrives during a run of Dolly-themed events across Austin.
Parton was a lifelong union member, and the women's labor movement 9to5 inspired the movie that shares its name.
