A writing workshop led by Texas State Poet Laureate Ire'ne Lara Silva as part of Austin Public Library's Disability Pride Month programming.
ire'ne lara silva leads a writing workshop at the Austin Public Library Central Library on Saturday, July 25, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. The session is titled The Stories Our Bodies Tell, and it's part of the library's Disability Pride Month programming. It's for adults 18 and over.
Silva is the Texas State Poet Laureate, and the workshop's title points toward the kind of writing she'll be guiding: work that looks at the body and the stories it carries. If you've ever wanted to get something on the page but weren't sure where to start, this is a good place to do it. It's a structured session led by a working poet, so you'll be writing alongside others rather than just listening.
If you're planning to stay for the afternoon, there's more. Silva is at the Central Library for a second event that same day: a Disability Pride Reading + Q&A from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. You can go to the workshop and then stick around for the reading, or just catch the reading if you're not in the mood to write. Both are part of the library's Disability Pride Month lineup.
