A screening of the dark comedy-drama film Digger by Alejandro IƱƔrritu, presented in IMAX format at the Bullock Texas State History Museum.
Digger opens at the Bullock Texas State History Museum on Friday, October 2, and runs through October 15. It's the new film from Alejandro IƱƔrritu, the director behind The Revenant and Birdman, and it's playing in the museum's IMAX theatre.
The story follows Digger Rockwell, an ambitious and ultra-wealthy oil tycoon whose latest excursion to Greenland triggers a chain reaction that threatens the world. The President of the United States tasks him with undoing the damage, so Rockwell has to find a way to keep trying to control the world while saving it from the disaster he caused. It's a dark comedy and a drama, and it runs 2 hours and 9 minutes. Tom Cruise stars as Rockwell, with Riz Ahmed and John Goodman in the supporting cast.
Since it's an IMAX release, the format is a big part of the experience. The film was made for the screen and features extended sequences in a 1.43:1 aspect ratio, shown with a dual laser projection system on a screen the museum describes as the size of Texas. It's rated R.
