Austin electronic/rock band performing 80s new wave classics at The Highball.
Dead Love Club are playing The Highball on Friday, October 16, as part of their '80s Obsession' show. They're an Austin-based act, and this is one of their local dates. The night is built around the new wave classics of the 1980s, and they describe it as a high-energy dance party.
Throughout the set, they work through the chart toppers of the MTV era, drawing on A Flock Of Seagulls, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, New Order, The Cure, and Billy Idol to keep the floor full. It's a run of names that pretty much sums up the new wave sound of the decade, so you'll recognize the songs. The whole thing is presented as a dance party rather than a seated concert, which sets the tone for how the night is meant to go.
