Live music session with the indie rock band Darlin' at the iconic Güero's Taco Bar in South Austin.
Darlin' plays Güero's Taco Bar on Thursday, July 30, with the set starting at 6 PM. It's a single-act bill, so the whole evening belongs to them.
If you've never been, Güero's is a South Congress staple that's been around since 1986. It's one of the city's most iconic restaurants, serving interior Mexican food with a hint of Tex-Mex and hand-shaken margaritas made the original way with fresh-squeezed lime juice. Husband and wife Rob and Cathy Lippincott opened it drawing on more than 60 years of hospitality experience, and their daughters, Lyle and Bette, are the second-generation owners who have run the place for years. The Oak Garden is the venue's home for live music, and the menu ranges from handmade corn tortillas to mole and tacos al pastor, with a fresh salsa bar and caldo de pollo among the tried-and-true favorites. The cover of the menu features Adelita, a tribute to the women of the Mexican Revolution.
