Country music duo Darlin' performs live at the iconic Güero's Taco Bar in Austin.
Darlin' play Güero's Taco Bar on Sunday, August 2, starting at 3 PM. They're a country music duo, and this is a daytime set on the South Congress patio, so it's more of a long afternoon than a late night.
If you haven't spent much time there, Güero's is one of the old-school landmarks of South Austin. It opened in 1986, run by Rob and Cathy Lippincott, who grew a modest taqueria on East Oltorf into the spot it is now. Their daughters, Lyle and Bette, grew up in the business and run it as second-generation owners. The bar does hand-shaken margaritas made the original way with fresh-squeezed lime juice, and the kitchen puts out interior Mexican food with a Tex-Mex lean—handmade corn tortillas, mole, and tacos al pastor. The Oak Garden patio hosts live music Wednesday through Sunday, and the menu cover features Adelita, a tribute to the women of the Mexican Revolution.

That's where you'll find Darlin' on Sunday afternoon. They're a country duo, so the set will be built around two voices and the instruments they bring. It's a 3 PM start, which puts it right in the middle of the day—plenty of time to grab a table in the garden and a drink before they kick off. Between the music and the food, it's a full afternoon on South Congress. The show is at Güero's Taco Bar, 1412 South Congress Ave, Austin, on Sunday, August 2, at 3 PM.
