An evening of poetry and other readings by KĹŤan Brink, Daphne DiFazio and Miles Matis-Uzzo, hosted by larĂ garcĂa and C. Rees, in partnership with Alienated Majesty Books.
Women & Their Work hosts Crosscurrent, an evening of poetry and other readings, on Thursday, September 3, from 6 to 8 PM. The reading is presented in partnership with Alienated Majesty Books, a central Austin bookstore that champions DIY and international publishing, with about half its stock in translation. They'll be there in person with a curated selection of titles.
The lineup brings together three writers: KĹŤan Brink, Daphne DiFazio, and Miles Matis-Uzzo, with larĂ garcĂa and C. Rees hosting. The evening is built around a few shared threads—incantation, displacement, giving voice to the voiceless, and hauntings—the same crosscurrents that run through larĂ garcĂa's exhibition Spirit of Discrimination, which closes that same day. The reading serves as a final companion to the show.
Each writer comes from a different place. KĹŤan Brink was born and raised in Minnesota, earned an MFA in Poetry from Columbia University, and is now pursuing a PhD in English at UT Austin, focusing on late medieval and early modern devotional poetry; their chapbook Pale Interiors came out through The Song Cave in 2024. Daphne DiFazio is a poet, performer, and editor studying poetry in Texas, and serves as a co-ambassador for the Austin chapter of the Authors Guild. Miles Matis-Uzzo is a visual artist, perfumer, and writer whose debut chapbook Dog Custody was published by BottleCap Press in 2026.

It's free and open to the public, though they ask that you RSVP via the form on the venue's website. The reading runs from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, September 3, at Women & Their Work in Austin.
