Stand-up comedian and actor Craig Robinson performs live comedy at Cap City Comedy Club, accompanied by his band The Nasty Delicious.
Craig Robinson is playing Cap City Comedy Club on Thursday, October 29, at 7:30 PM. He's doing a double-duty set: he'll perform solo and then bring out his band, The Nasty Delicious, so you'll get both the stand-up and the music in one night.
Most of us know him as Darryl Philbin from The Office, but that's just one part of the picture. He stars in and executive produces Peacock's Killing It, which he made with Brooklyn Nine-Nine producers Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici. His film credits run from Knocked Up, This is the End, and the Hot Tub Time Machine movies to Dolemite is My Name!, The Bad Guys, Timmy Failure, and Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon. He's also had his own sitcom, Mr. Robinson, and hosted The Masked Dancer on FOX.
He didn't start out in front of the camera. Robinson broke into comedy at the 1998 Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, and before he went into comedy full-time, he was a K-8 teacher in the Chicago Public School System. He studied education in Chicago, joined the Second City Theatre, earned an undergraduate degree from Illinois State University, and a Master's of Education from St. Xavier University. That teaching background is a far cry from the roles he's known for now.
