A culinary workshop at the Austin Public Library focusing on mastering gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian cooking techniques.
The Cooking Club is back at the Central Library on Tuesday, September 8, as part of the Austin Public Library's culinary workshop series. This session focuses on allergen-friendly cooking, with the goal of mastering gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian recipes.
The whole series is built around a simple, relatable idea: cooking for friends in a way that acknowledges their health concerns, and picking up new skills so that everyone can enjoy the meal. It's less about a single recipe and more about the techniques behind it. The sessions cover gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian cooking with enough range that you'll find something to learn regardless of your experience level, whether you're a complete beginner or someone who's been in the kitchen for years.
The venue is the Central Library at 710 W. Cesar Chavez, which opened in October 2017 and fills 198,000 square feet with an art gallery, event and screening spaces, a cafe, a rooftop garden, and hundreds of thousands of books. It's picked up a few Best of Austin Awards over the years, including Critics' Picks for Best Reason to Go Back to the Library in 2022 and Best New Public Building in 2004.
