Congress The Band plays Brushy Street Commons on Saturday, August 29, with TheBrosFresh and Smoked Honey opening. It's a three-act bill in East Austin, and the whole thing runs from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
If you're not familiar with the room, Brushy Street Commons is inside the sound stage of the historic 501 Studios building. It's one of those spots that changes face depending on when you drop in: it serves food and drinks by day and hosts live music by night. The space has a fair bit of local history behind it. Austin legends Stevie Ray Vaughan and Willie Nelson both filmed music videos here, and Universal Pictures used the soundstage for the 1981 film Raggedy Man, starring Sissy Spacek and Eric Roberts. For more than a decade, the Texas Lottery also drew and broadcast its million-dollar winners from the room.
