A high-intensity fitness conditioning camp blending strength training, kickboxing and plyometrics, led by Robert Reed.
Castle Hill Fitness is running a conditioning camp in the Martial Arts Room at 1112 N. Lamar Blvd., and the current block goes through September 11. It's a three-session-a-week series—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00 to 6:55 AM—so you're in and out before the workday really kicks in.
Robert Reed leads the sessions. He's an ACE-certified Elite-level personal trainer and a 5th-generation, 7th-degree black belt in the Kajukenbo self-defense system, with a 2nd-degree black belt in American Kenpo as well. That background shows up in the workout: he blends lunges, strength training, kickboxing, and plyometrics into a high-intensity hour. It's open to all levels, as long as you're training injury-free.
The camp is structured as a series of four blocks, each running for about four weeks. The first ran May 25 to June 19, the second June 22 to July 17, and the third July 20 to August 14. The current block started August 17 and runs through September 11. Each class is capped at 12 people, which keeps the group small and gives you more direct attention than you'd get in a larger room.
